Mainly owing to the upcoming match between FC Barcelona and Atletico Madrid and the goal he scored in the last Champions League match against Porto, Joao Felix has constantly been in the news this week.
The Portuguese international has been the subject of comments from several Atletico Madrid players, including Antoine Griezmann, and there has also been news that Barcelona is considering negotiating for a full transfer of the player this coming January instead of waiting for next summer.
Now, as Mundo Deportivo has reported, the player himself has made it clear that he is very happy at Barcelona and wants to continue at the Catalan club. Speaking to an interview with Movistar Plus, the player was asked whether he has received any signal from the club about his future, to which he replied:
“I’m happy here. If I stay, great, my family is very well, and we’ll see what happens in the future.”
Mundo Deportivo further reports that Atletico Madrid are currently valuing the player at around €80 million. However, Barcelona are looking to get the asking price of Atletico Madrid significantly reduced and bring it down by one-half, i.e. to €40 million.
Furthermore, the Catalans are also planning to get Joao Cancelo permanently this winter. He is valued at €25 million by Manchester City, but Barcelona want to negotiate the asking price and bring it down to €15 million.
FC Barcelona prefer reaching a direct deal for these two players but can add a player from its squad that is liked by Atletico Madrid to bring Felix’s price further down.
