FC Barcelona are working tirelessly to solve their financial complications. In addition to the multitude of players attracting interest, the Catalans are not only looking for sales from within their current squad; but also have an array of loanees that can produce leeway to achieve Financial Fair Play.
Clement Lenglet:
The Frenchman was loaned to Tottenham Hotspur before the inauguration of last season, with an option to stay another year on loan. Even so, Mundo Deportivo recently reported the English club is interested in permanently acquiring his services and fortifying their defense with Lenglet continuing.
Lenglet struggled to find regularity in his final days at Barcelona, so the Catalans will be keen to offload him at a price of around €15 million.
Nico Gonzalez:
Nico’s loan spell at Valencia has not gone perfectly to plan. With injuries and interruptions in his season, he has struggled to find continuity.
While the player is set to return to his home club this summer, Xavi reportedly does not see him in his plans anymore, with competition in midfield already peaking.
The player’s agent, Jorge Mendes, has significant links across Europe and will look to secure a suitable destination for him.
Samuel Umtiti:
Despite being practically cast off in his final years at Barcelona, owing to his knee injury, Umtiti has been given a new lease of life at the Italian club, Leece. The Frenchman has been an astute source of authority, with improved performances and enhanced consistency.
While on loan, he has garnered interest from top clubs like Roma and Inter Milan, which makes parting ways with Umtiti for a decent fee a very likely scenario.
Abde Ezzalzouli:
Currently, on loan at Osasuna, Abde has arguably thrived the most out of all of Barça’s loanees. The left-winger has made a name for himself in Spain with his remarkable one-on-one ability and expertise in take-ons.
At the moment, the Catalans are considered to keep him as potential departures of Ferran and Fati will instead be studied. However, Abde has huge interest from several Premier League clubs.
In the event, Barcelona shift their plans and make other adjustments for the left wing, a probable Abde departure may greatly help their finances.
Francisco Trincão:
Francisco Trincao departed on loan to Sporting Lisbon last summer after joining La Blaugrana in 2020 for €31 million from Braga. The Portuguese side paid €3 million for the deal and put aside a buy option for €7 million, which would become a necessary obligation if a number of simply assumable conditions were satisfied.
Sergiño Dest:
Dest failed to live up to expectations, in spite of being loaned out to a historically rich club, AC Milan. The Italians removed the American from their Champions League list in January and are keen to move on from him this summer.
Since Xavi discarded the player himself, it is unlikely he will continue with the Catalan giants. A loan move to Union Berlin is on the cards right now.
Álex Collado:
From once being hailed as a shining star in the youth ranks, the former Barcelona B captain has suffered a mediocre season with Elche.
He is en route to being relegated with his team, but with one year left on his contract at Barcelona, the hierarchy is expected to accept a modest fee for him before letting him move on for free.
