Resigning Lionel Messi is one of the primary objectives of FC Barcelona in the coming transfer window. This operation is highly complicated, and there are a number of barriers that have to be overcome before the operation can be successfully completed.
As already reported, the allegedly strained relationship between Joan Laporta and Lionel Messi is one of the major barriers to Messi’s return to Barcelona. However, Laporta’s recent comments on TV have gone on to calm fears in the fans that this problem can keep Messi from coming back to the club.
Another major problem in the Lionel Messi operation is the insistence from La Liga that all Spanish clubs adhere strictly to the Financial Fair Play rules. The club and the league authorities have been at loggerheads for some time in regard to the registration of players and keeping the club within its stipulated wage limits.
A report from SPORT claims that this barrier is also likely to be overcome by the club, and the club is receiving positive signs from La Liga regarding the Messi operation. FC Barcelona had already submitted a feasibility plan to La Liga, in which it explained how the club would bring the superstar back to the club, without getting out of its wage limits.
However, to ensure that La Liga would not create further problems in the operation, the club has asked for written guarantees from the league that Lionel Messi would be registered if the club is able to sign him this summer.
In addition to a guarantee for Messi’s registration, the club has also asked for similar guarantees about Gundogan’s registration, in case the club is able to reach an agreement with him.
Furthermore, the club is also optimistic that it will obtain the green light from the league authorities to register its already-owned players, including Gavi, Araujo, Sergi Roberto, and Marcos Alonso.
Thus, this report indicates that the long-going battle between La Liga and FC Barcelona may be coming to an end, and both sides now seem more open to a compromise. Still, things can change quickly, and nothing can be certain until all these players are actually registered with the league.
