FC Barcelona are in contacts with a number of players to bring them to the club for the upcoming season. One such player who is reportedly gaining traction at the Catalan club is Bayern Munich’s, Joshua Kimmich.

Blaugrana’s midfield needs strengthening and reinforcements, especially as the veteran midfielder Sergio Busquets has announced his departure from the club. Thus, recent media reports suggested that Kimmich is one of the players that FC Barcelona aim to bring to Camp Nou to replace Busquets.

However, SPORT reports that the feeling in Germany regarding this transfer is that it is virtually impossible. The report suggests that FC Barcelona have not yet been in contact with the player and the player himself has no intention of leaving the Bavarians.

Furthermore, the report also claims that Kimmich does not have any agent engaged with him, and it was the player himself who negotiated his contract with Bayern Munich, which now goes up to June, 2025.

Kimmich has spent almost all of his senior career at Bayern Munich, and getting him out of his club would almost be an impossible task for any club. After rising in the youth ranks at Stuttgart, the player signed for Bayern Munich in 2015, when he was 20 years old.

He is currently playing in his 8th season at the Bavarian club, and is the third captain of the team, behind Manuel Neuer and Thomas Muller. In addition to winning the Bundesliga in all of his seasons at the club, the player also won a Champions League, and has won a number of other titles at the club.

As Bayern Munich fully trust the player, and see him as a key part of their future squad, it would be very difficult for Barcelona to attract him out of Bavaria. This latest report further dampens the hopes of him playing in Blaugrana colors, while the entire operation seemed highly unlikely to succeed to begin with.
