A number of exciting players are developing at La Masia, and one such player who rose to prominence at FC Barcelona last season is Aleix Garrido. The youngster made only one brief appearance with the first team last season, but that appearance has been enough to generate the interest of other major clubs.
Garrido made his debut with the FC Barcelona first team on 1st April, in a match against Elche. In this match at the Martinez Valero, he only played the last six minutes, but these six minutes were enough to get the Blaugrana fans acquainted with the player, even if they did not follow youth-level football.
It was in this brief appearance that the player showed the skills and abilities traditionally associated with Barcelona’s style of football. His game style also drew parallels with Pedri, and he successfully carried out Xavi’s instructions in this match by not losing a single ball.
Owing to these abilities on the ball and the potential to grow further, the club renewed his contract in the same month of April when he made his debut. His current contract now runs up to 30th June 2025, and being currently only 19 years old, the player will see his importance for the club increase in the coming seasons.
However, It has not only been Barcelona that are impressed with his abilities, but according to SPORT, other European sides have also set their sights on the player. Premier League side Arsenal is one such club that is currently monitoring Garrido, but the player, having been associated with the Catalans since 8 years of age and an ardent fan of the club, dreams only of succeeding at his beloved club.
Still, owing to the competition in the midfield positions, Garrido might have to spend time at another club, at least on a loan, in order to keep developing as a player.
