Match Details:

Competition: Club Friendlies

Venue: Red Bull Arena

Date and Time:

Sunday, 31 July: / Saturday, 30 July

Match Overview:

It will be the third friendly meeting between Red Bulls and FC Barcelona. The first meeting came to pass at Giants Stadium on August 12th, 2006, & the second on August 6th, 2008.

Xavi is expected to field a strong starting eleven against MLS based outfit. Ronald Araujo & Pedri were revitalised against Juventus, but both will look forward to starting on Saturday night. Dest could fill in at right-back spot. The Puppet Master will adjust the starting lineup that faced the Old Lady, with Gavi, Raphinha, & Ansu Fati possibly joining Araujo, Pedri, & Dest.

Lewandowski has yet to score for his new club, but he should lead the attack again, with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang & Dembele likely to drop to the bench. Nico, Kessie, Torre and Pjanic are also expected to get a considerable time in the 2nd half of the match.

Gerhard Struber’s team will return to league action against the Colorado Rapids, but the opportunity to face Barcelona does not come along very often. So the club will be focusing on this game right now, even though they have pivotal games ahead.

The Austrian would contemplate using a bulk of his first-team players. The club’s supporters will also expect a response from their team following the disappointing loss to Orlando City, which prevented them from advancing to the competition’s final against the Sacramento Republic.
