With recent news suggesting that Barcelona are slowly losing their footing on various transfer targets they had for the summer transfer window, the newest updates reveal that the Catalan club has made significant progress in the possible arrival of one of their biggest targets.

It was no secret that among the priorities that FC Barcelona had for the summer, the signing of a talented second striker to provide backup and rest to current first-team talisman, Robert Lewandowski, was a top-level priority. Thus, they turned their heads to Brazil and have now reportedly made huge progress there.

As per the latest update on the transfer of Vitor Roque by Mundo Deportivo, it is understood that Barcelona and the youngster’s current club, Athletico Paranaense have come to an agreement over the fee for Roque’s transfer, with the amount having been finalized to €35 million alongside an additional €10 million in variables.

It is also speculated that Barcelona will be expected to finish up paying this amount over the course of three years and that a €1 billion release clause has been decided for Vitor Roque, a figure he shares with the likes of Pedri, Gavi and Ansu Fati among others. The young forward’s registration remains one of the doubts, however.

Most of the delay is due to the uncertainty of Financial fair play, accordingly to which Barcelona are still hoping to remain eligible in registering already renewed players such as Gavi and Ronald Araujo, while also being able to implement the registration of Inigo Martinez alongside the renewals of Sergi Roberto, Marcos Alonso, and Alejandro Balde.

The Brazilian club’s president, Alexandre Mattos, has been dealing directly with the likes of Deco, Barcelona’s new soon-to-be Sporting Director, and has agreed to various terms for the player already as per emerging reports.

According to trusted Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, Barcelona are also trying their own best to ensure the arrival of the Brazilian wonderkid this summer to avoid having to wait any longer than necessary so that no future complications end up arising.
