Within the last few weeks at the offices of FC Barcelona, there have been major developments in regards to new arrivals and closing up on pending operations in order to wrap up signings and departures. From Turkey to Brazil, Barcelona have been working tirelessly to ensure their future is secured in this very window.
One such operation that the Catalans have been following for a long time now and believe it to be the right moment to close it down is that of Brazilian prodigy Vitor Roque. The 18-year-old striker for South American side Athletico Paranaense has lured many clubs to secure his services, but it is Barcelona who have made the most progress.
Just yesterday in fact, the 18-year-old being courted by FC Barcelona faced off against soon-to-be Real Madrid player and fellow countryman Endrick, with the two strikers representing Athletico Paranaense and Palmeiras respectively in their Brazilian Serie A clash, where both youngsters ended up grabbing a goal each, signaling huge excitement for their potential future rivalry.
Given the quality and potential of Vitor Roque, Athletico Paranaense have considered it to be only fitting that they add a certain bonus clause in their agreement with FC Barcelona, as has been reported by Mundo Deportivo, who also claim the operation to be “99%” completed.
The bonus clause in question is that in the scenario that Vitor Roque ends up becoming a top three podium placement for the acclaimed Ballon D’or or even wins it, Barcelona will have to pay his former Brazilian club additional money in order for the South American side to compensate for the loss of better offers from other clubs simply due to Roque’s insistence upon joining the Catalan giants.
At the moment, the reported fee that both Athletico Paranaense and Blaugranes have agreed upon for the transfer of the 18-year-old wonderkid is €35 million with an additional €10 million in variables. It does remain to be seen just when Roque ends up arriving at Barcelona though, as financial complications are still yet to be sorted.
