With securing the signing of Vitor Roque, FC Barcelona have met one of their major objectives for this summer transfer window. This signing would definitely have got the Camp Nou faithful excited because of Roque’s form and consistency with Athletico Paranaense in the Brazilian Serie A.

It is not yet clear whether Roque will be joining the club this summer or in the winter window. However, whenever the youngster joins up with his colleagues at the new club, the next challenge for the club in this regard would be to ensure that the player feels comfortable in his new environment, especially considering his youth and lack of experience.

It seems that Barcelona is already taking steps in this direction. As Mundo Deportivo has reported, Xavi Hernandez called the Brazilian on Friday when the contract binding him to FC Barcelona had already been signed.

The publication claims that the call was cordial, leaving the Brazilian short of words as he was not expecting such a call. This was the first instance of communication between the player and Xavi, as Xavi did not want to give up on the opportunity to establish rapport and congratulate the player on the next step in his career.

With this communication, Xavi welcomed Roque to the club and conveyed to him the importance he would place on the youngster. Furthermore, the Barcelona head coach also showed his satisfaction with Roque’s incorporation into the team and disclosed his confidence in the player’s abilities.

Barcelona paid €30 million for the player’s transfer to Brazilian side Athletico Paranaense and might have to pay a further €31 million in variables. The player has signed a seven-year contract with the Catalan club and will get a wage of €3.5 million in his initial campaigns, while this sum will grow in later years.

Barcelona and Xavi will be hoping that the player is able to continue with his form when he arrives at Camp Nou. However, for that to happen, the player will have to first adjust to a new city, club, and squad. Xavi has taken the first step to ensure a smooth adjustment, but it still needs to be seen how the player will fare with his new club.
