One factor that sets FC Barcelona apart from other football clubs is their ability and tradition of identifying and developing talent. This aspect of the club is observable even more pronouncedly these days as the club is suffering from highly strained finances and has to bet on high-potential youngsters before they become too expensive.

While the club is already keeping its eyes on a number of youngsters throughout the world, Mundo Deportivo reports that the club’s scouts have identified another young talent with a lot of potential.

This player is the Ecuadorian Oscar Zambrano, who is nineteen years old and is considered to be one of the jewels in Ecuadorian football. Operating in the center of the field, the player is an integral part of the country’s Under-20 team, and played all the possible minutes with this team in the last U-20 World Cup up to the Round of 16.

The report mentions that the player has attracted Barcelona’s attention, and the Catalans are in talks with the player’s club, LDU Quito, for his procurement. The Ecuadorian club is still waiting for a formal proposal for their youngster who has already gained significant experience in the country’s first-division football.

Zambrano has been a key player for Quito, which currently stand third in the league. His involvement in this league was interrupted by the U-20 World Cup, where he went to play with his national team, and where Barcelona scouts were already present to identify any potential targets.

Barcelona are aiming to get the player primarily for the subsidiary team, but would be in their plans for the first team if his development goes according to plans.
