FC Barcelona continue to strive towards an improved and sustainable allocation of their current salary mass in the hopes of better adhering to their rather vulnerable economic condition at the moment.

As a result, the Catalan club hopes to better allocate their funds towards players that are considered to be pivotal for the future project of the club rather than those that are considered surplus to requirements.

One such player that Barcelona are keen to move on from is French central defender Clement Lenglet. Given that even last season, his game time was severely compromised, the 28-year-old was loaned off to English Premier League outfit Tottenham Hotspur.

The player ended up having a decent 2022/2023 campaign with the London-based outfit with talks in recent weeks regarding a permanent transfer also having been discussed.

However, as per Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona are currently facing major difficulty in finding a permanent solution for the Frenchman, whose high contracted salary has also been a massive hurdle to overcome for any potential suitors.

Originally speculated to be reaching an agreement with Spurs soon for the player’s transfer, it ended up becoming a problematic saga that has still not reached a conclusion. The Catalans initially demanded €15 million for the player, a figure that was met with skepticism from the side of Spurs, who were willing to only offer something much lower.

The player is currently traveling with FC Barcelona on their tour to the United States of America for pre-season, but is yet to feature and speculation suggests that he possibly will not do so for the entirety of the tour.

As it stands, the player is well and truly out of any plans that FC Barcelona may have for the upcoming season. Moreover, the eagerness of Barca to part ways with Lenglet is severe to the point that they are willing to loan him out yet again, on the condition that they do not pay for any of his salary during that period.

The Frenchman and FC Barcelona seem to now be a relation of the past, with both entities hoping to move on and work towards their progress to better establish their own respective futures.
