Barcelona remain adamant on reinforcing their team over this summer window of 2023 in light of the various departures taking place already and the squad being in urgent need of some injection of fresh talent.

In particular, the departure of 26-year-old French winger Ousmane Dembele to Ligue 1 outfit Paris Saint-Germain has been a crucial exit that was both unforeseen and now takes a major sporting toll on Barcelona and the plans of Xavi Hernandez.

Despite the loss of a rather unique right-winger, several reports have claimed that Barcelona intend to reinforce other positions over directly finding a replacement at the right-wing position.

Instead, these reports claim that Barcelona will look to rely on the players already present within the team to cover up for Dembele’s departure and prove their own pedigree within the side.

Most recently, according to Spanish journalist Matteo Moretto, Barcelona have also finalized their decision over the future of 21-year-old Moroccan winger Ez Abde, deciding that he must remain with FC Barcelona heading into the new season.

As per the report by the journalist, a meeting took place following the conclusion of the pre-season tour of the United States of America in which the decision was made after thorough consideration.

Moreover, Moretto claims that Barcelona also rejected two significant offers for the Moroccan as they remained in favor of retaining his services, especially after the loss of Dembele to PSG.

Unless a momentous surprise is in order, Abde will play his football under Xavi Hernandez next season donning Barcelona colours as he gets to represent the team on a more regular basis for the first time under the tutelage of Xavi.

Due to a lack of minutes being a concern last season, the player was sent out on loan by Barcelona to Jagoba Arrasate’s CA Osasuna, where the young Moroccan shined and helped them achieve both qualification in Europe as well as helping Osasuna reach the Copa Del Ray final.

His great work for the Moroccan national team has not gone unnoticed as well, helping them clinch the Under-23 African Cup of Nations by finishing as the tournament’s MVP.
