The uncertainty at FC Barcelona beyond their current summer targets and ongoing operation is quite visible, as the Catalan giants only manage to see through to the latest developments and are a bit vague on proceedings beyond it.

The arrival of 29-year-old Portuguese International and Manchester City fullback Joao Cancelo is taken for granted at the moment and FC Barcelona have diverted all their attention towards the right-back’s incorporation within the team to ensure Xavi’s request of wanting a top-level right-back can be completed.

However, with the loss of Pedri to an injury that could see him remain out of action for over a month at the very least, Xavi and Barcelona have updated their priorities for the remainder of the summer transfer window according to Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo.

The report from MD claims that FC Barcelona will be now attentive to the possibility of bringing in both a right-back, already set to be completed with Joao Cancelo’s arrival, and a new midfielder as well given the loss of Pedri only boosting that wish of the club and its head coach.

While 23-year-old Joao Felix also remains a player yet to have his future sorted, one in which he hopes to don Blaugrana colors, Barcelona will first and foremost look to close the operation for Cancelo according to MD after which they will then assess the possibility of bringing in a new midfielder as per their economic allowance.

Previously having made an attempt for another Manchester City star, Bernardo Silva, that operation ultimately did not come to fruition and Barcelona were left without their key target of the summer who has now renewed with Manchester City.

The player that continues to gain the most traction in this regard of finding a new midfielder for Barcelona is Argentinean midfielder Giovani Lo Celso, who currently plies his trade for English outfit Tottenham Hotspur.

However, Barcelona remain certain that the midfield target can only be pursued if the economic feasibility of it is quite apparent and the Catalan giants can also manage to offload more players yet to have their departures sorted.
