FC Barcelona has been home to several outstanding youngsters throughout not just the years, but even decades at a time. Producing talent and developing stars that had the potential and quality within to dominate and orchestrate the world of football according to their own perceptions.

As there were Lionel Messi, Andres Iniesta, and Xavi Hernandez alongside others at a time, today exist the likes of Gavi, Lamine Yamal, Fermin Lopez, and others who look to reclaim even a hint of the glory achieved by their academy predecessors.

However, as Lamine Yamal is considered the absolute crown jewel among the academy’s most recent crop of forwards, his defensive counterpart is also there in the form of 16-year-old defender Pau Cubarsi according to Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo.

Having arrived from Girona in 2018, the 16-year-old just recently signed his first-ever professional contract on the 8th of July this year with FC Barcelona. Additionally, despite being a mere 15 years of age at that time, he took part in first-team training sessions last season, a testament to Xavi’s unwavering belief in his exceptional talents.

Heralded as one of the great recent products in the Barcelona subsidiary, the player has various traits that define him as a force to be reckoned with. Possessing great technical ability on the ball, aggression, speed, positioning, and even an imposing physical presence with his tall stature that will only continue to develop since he is just 16 years of age at the moment.

His signing of the Barcelona contract came as a relief to La Blaugrana, who managed to keep him away from the clutches of other European clubs that were interested in him, including English Premier League outfit Manchester City.

In the most recent development, the player has earned his inaugural call-up by Xavi Hernandez, finding his name among the 21 players listed for the squad set to visit Estadio De La Ceramica to face off against Villarreal in matchday three of La Liga EA Sports.

Following the game, the player is next expected to travel with the Spanish Under-18s led by manager Jose Lana, with the team expected to participate in training sessions at the Albir Garden Resort in Alfaz del Pi (Alicante).

The Barcelona player is also among those talented few who are expected to go on and represent the Under-17 Spanish national team at the upcoming FIFA World Cup of the same age category scheduled to take place in Indonesia.
