Barcelona waiting for funds to complete their last two signings of the transfer window – report

There is a lot of activity going on in FC Barcelona offices with the end of the summer transfer window reaching its end. The Catalans were aiming to close their major operations before going into the last week of the window, but they still have to complete some essential operations with only a few days left.

The top priority operation currently is the arrival of Joao Cancelo, the negotiations for whom are almost complete with Manchester City. Secondly, there is also the arrival of Joao Felix to take care of, and his operation can go on till the last day of the market.

Cancelo waiting in Portugal

SPORT reports that Joao Cancelo is currently residing in Portugal with his family, as he has already been released by Manchester City to complete his move to Barcelona. He has not trained with the Manchester team since last Thursday, as he had the club’s permission. Furthermore, the player has also talked to Xavi and feels motivated to be a part of this Barcelona project.

Most of the aspects of a loan for the Portuguese fullback to Barcelona are already agreed upon between Manchester City and Barcelona, but there are still some fringes left to be ironed out. Barcelona would not be paying any fee for the loan move.

Furthermore, the Catalan giants can make a move for the Portuguese only after the club receives the €40 million payment from the German Libero Football Fund. August 31 is the deadline for the fund to provide this amount to Barcelona, but the Catalans would be trying to get this amount before Thursday to complete their ongoing operations.

Felix to be the last addition

Meanwhile, Barcelona are also working to make a final try to get the Portuguese forward, Joao Felix, before the transfer window closes. The player is still facing the exile from Diego Simeone’s side, as his relationship with the club has soured in the last few weeks.

However, Barcelona can make a move for Felix only in the last two days of the market. This is so because Barcelona are still to get the money from the Libero Football Fund, which is required before they can start the operation for Felix,

Secondly, Barcelona also have to make space in their squad for the Portuguese forward by selling some of their players. Clement Lenglet and Ez Abde are the most likely candidates to leave the club, but until their departure is materialized, Barcelona would be unable to go in for Felix.
