Originally having been a massive hurdle for FC Barcelona coming into this summer transfer window as they continued to acquire their new signings, the registration process has arguably been getting much more feasible for the Catalan giants over the last week or so with certain financial measures being taken.

Having agreed a contract extension with Barcelona captain Marc Andre Ter Stegen until 2028 with a significant portion of his salary being deferred, alongside the various transfers of players such as Clement Lenglet, Ousmane Dembele, Ansu Fati, Julian Araujo, and Sergino Dest among others on either loans or permanent transfers, the Catalans were able to stabilize their economic situation to an extent.

As a result, FC Barcelona have now officially been able to register both new Portuguese arrivals Joao Felix and Joao Cancelo almost minutes after officially announcing their respective arrivals from Atletico Madrid and Manchester City.

Both Portuguese stars arrive on a simple loan deal for the 2023/2024 season and are going to be Barcelona players until June of next year. Originally, a buy option existed in the case of Joao Cancelo but due to issues with Financial Fair play, it had to eventually be removed.

The 23-year-old Felix and 29-year-old Cancelo arrive to reinforce the offensive depth as well as the defensive depth of FC Barcelona. The fullback has been widely hailed as one of the best right-backs in world football over the last few years while Joao Felix remains Atletico Madrid’s record signing when he arrived from Benfica in 2019.

Both players have huge expectations on their shoulders as Barcelona and head coach Xavi Hernandez will look to make the most out of their time with La Blaugrana in the hopes of producing a season worthy of the efforts and sacrifices the Catalan giants have had to make for this summer window’s arrivals.
