Joao Felix is one of the latest arrivals at FC Barcelona and his incorporation in the Catalan club is raising excitement and expectations among the fans. While he has not been able to perform to the expected standards in the last four years, there is no doubt about the talent that he possesses.

There is a higher chance that Felix can realize his true potential at Barcelona as Xavi’s tactics suit him much better than those of Simeone. However, at the end of the last season, no one had any reason to expect that Felix would be playing in the Blaugrana colors this season.

Felix takes a huge financial hit to join Barcelona

As already reported here, Laporta has been impressed with the Portuguese forward’s game for some years now. However, the financial conditions at Barcelona do not really allow for a luxury signing, and even this summer, it has taken a significant sacrifice from Felix to ensure he can play at Barcelona.

It is already known that Felix has given up a significant degree of his salary to be able to join Barcelona this summer. Now, SPORT has reported the exact amount that Felix would be earning at Barcelona.

The report mentions that the Portugal international would earn only €400,000 throughout his loan at Barcelona. However, La Liga still charges Barcelona €4 million in lieu of FFP, despite the club paying only 10% of this amount to Felix.

New contract with Atletico

Atletico Madrid will also pay Felix around €1.5 million for the two months of the season that he has been with the Mattress Makers since June. Felix signed a contract renewal with Atletico before moving to Barcelona, which goes up to 2029, but which has also lowered his salary significantly.

Thus, Felix has made a great economic sacrifice in order to play for the Catalan giants. The fans would be hoping that the player can recoup his form at his new club, and thus fulfil his dream of playing and shining for the Blaugrane club, and extend his stay beyond just one year.
