Rotations were expected by FC Barcelona in their upcoming games given the excruciating schedule that La Blaugrana have to endure moving forward and the adverse consequences it can have on the players. As such, the clash against Real Betis could see Xavi Hernandez make several changes.
With the recent international break having just concluded, many players have returned from their respective national teams with an accumulated level of fatigue both due to excessive playing time as well as travel exhaustion.
As such, one of the primary changes that is being reported by SPORT and seems probable through the coach’s direct indications, is that of Spanish winger Ferran Torres finally getting to start a game for FC Barcelona during the official 2023/24 campaign.
With even the Barcelona head coach heaping praise on the 23-year-old, Ferran Torres could be set to displace both Raphinha and Lamine Yamal as one of the forwards within the front line.
Due to Raphinha having just returned from international duty with barely any rest and Lamine Yamal being an asset that Barcelona will look to be very cautious with, the doors open for Torres to start.
However, this simply is not due to a circumstantial reason that he will be allowed to start. In fact, Ferran Torres has been one of the most efficient players in Europe this season.
Scoring twice for Barcelona, one in each game against Cadiz and Villarreal despite being given barely any time across those two games as a substitute, and scoring another two for the Spanish National team in his latest appearance for La Roja against Cyprus under Luis de la Fuente.
Torres was always Barca’s top scorer during pre-season but ended up not being given a singular minute in the opening league clash against Getafe. Since then, however, things have definitely taken a turn for the better when it comes to the fortunes of the 23-year-old.
Now, as Barcelona welcome Real Betis at the Montjuic Stadium, Ferran Torres could get a chance to start once again for Barcelona. Even within the expected lineup released by Barca News Network, the player is expected to start for the Catalan giants.
