For their soon-approaching clash, FC Barcelona welcome fellow Spanish side Celta Vigo to the Montjuic Stadium. Set to take place as the sixth match for both sides in the 2023/24 La Liga EA Sports campaign, both managers of the teams will be looking for a victory.
Given that Barcelona will be aiming for the win and all three points, Xavi Hernandez has picked out a strong starting eleven to kick off the game against Rafa Benitez’s Celta Vigo despite the rotations done to ensure more players get time on the field.
The following is the official starting XI released by FC Barcelona prior to the commencement of the game against Celta Vigo.
Goalkeeper
German goalkeeper and FC Barcelona second captain Marc Andre Ter Stegen starts in goal to ensure that Celta do not thwart the Barcelona net at any point during the game. The Barcelona goalkeeper will look to maintain another clean sheet as well, hoping to continue his fine form for the Catalan club.
Defense
In the Barcelona defensive structure, Danish defender Andreas Christensen starts next to French defender Jules Kounde. Both of the center-backs will be looking to keep Celta at bay allowing the Blaugranes to have more control in the game.
The flanks of the defense are covered by Portuguese star Joao Cancelo and Spanish veteran Marcos Alonso. Their experience will surely provide Barcelona with the offensive edge and defensive cover they need to excel in the game.
Midfield
The heart of the midfield sees Oriol Romeu return as the main pivot of the team after being rested against Royal Antwerp in the previous game. The Spaniard is accompanied by Dutch midfielder Frenkie De Jong and German veteran Ilkay Gundogan starting as the team’s interiors.
Forwards
Finally, the offensive line of Barcelona includes Portuguese gem Joao Felix and Spanish winger Ferran Torres start as the main wingers on the left and right, respectively.
