FC Barcelona have always been a club that basks in the spotlight thrown on it by the media around the world. The latest of topics associated with La Blaugrana has been the discussion of venues that may be fit to hold the grandest game of them all; the FIFA World Cup final.

However, the World Cup in question is not the one coming up in 2026. That specific edition will take place in the Americas. On the other hand, the 2030 iteration of the FIFA World Cup will see a record number of countries simultaneously hosting it, one of them being Spain.

Given that by then, Spain will be home to two of the most iconic stadiums in the world, there is a huge possibility that one of those two could end up hosting the tournament’s grand final itself. The stadiums in question obviously being the new versions of Real Madrid’s Santiago Bernabeu and the Camp Nou of FC Barcelona.

As highlighted by the Spanish outlet SPORT, the topic was recently brought up in front of Xavi Hernandez. During his pre-match press conference ahead of the clash against Granada, Xavi was asked about the possibility of Camp Nou potentially hosting the final.

In response, Xavi seemed completely open to the idea and even gave his reasonings for as to why it may be the perfect stadium for the event:

“Camp Nou, of course, why not? It’s the stadium with the most capacity.”

The answer comes a few hours after the topic was discussed with Real Madrid’s Carlo Ancelotti as well. According to the Los Blancos head coach, the final ought to take place in the Bernabeu given that Madrid is the capital of Spain and that the new stadium would be ideal for the final:

“The World Cup final has to be played in Madrid, the capital of Spain, and at the Bernabéu because it has to be the best stadium in the world. Simply because of this.”

So far, no final decision has yet been made on the final’s venue. There also exists the possibility that the final may not even end up taking place in Spain. However, speculations never end and for now, both the Camp Nou and Santiago Bernabeu remain strong contestants for that massive game.
