Fc Barcelona 0-1 Inter Milan: Player Ratings

Fc Barcelona 0-1 Inter Milan: Player Ratings

After a grueling, scrappy win against Mallorca, Barcelona needed a crucial win here to put themselves into a safer position in the group. Yet due to multiple reasons, one of which is the lackluster performance of the team holistically, they falter against Inter Milan at the San Siro. Barca News Network brings you the Player Ratings after the game against Inter Milan.

Ter Stegen: 6.5

The German shot-stopper made some integral saves, particularly from Çalhanoğlu, yet could not have done much for the goal. A decent, quiet outing for him.

Marcos Alonso: 5

Wayward crossing, lack of pace when tracking back, and sluggish play. Marcos Alonso may not have been the absolute worst player on the field, but he was nowhere near at the level he ought to have been on.

Christensen: 6.5

Possibly the one Centre-Back that has something to show for himself, the Danish international was quick on the ball and particular with his distribution. Went off with an injury later that could keep him sidelined for a while, however.

Eric Garcia: 6

Lost a few duels and had to resort to giving away free kicks, especially during Inter’s transitions, Garcia was also rather quiet today in terms of his contributions to the team.

Sergi Roberto: 5

Seemingly applicable to both fullbacks today, they seemed to offer little to nothing in terms of helping the team create potent chances, and then had the risk of their lack of pace being
exploited by the Italian side’s wing-backs.

Busquets: 6

Composed enough for most of the game, but composure is not all a team requires. Not being able to assert his rather typical understanding of gaps between the opposition, Busquets had a constricted performance.

Gavi: 5.5

Almost invisible for a majority of the first half, Gavi barely was to be seen on the ball during build-ups. Managed to enforce himself a little bit more in the second half, but was soon after substituted off for Frank Kessie.

Pedri: 7.5

Pedri was the only bright spot of the night for La Blaugrana, able to mesmerize Inter’s players with some exceptional footwork on multiple occasions, and also had an equalizing goal disallowed by the VAR later.

Dembele: 4.5

Arguably his worst performance this season by Dembele. Whereas against Mallorca he seemed closed down, Dembele was more hell-bent on being his own worst enemy against Inter. Poor decision-making, overdoing his dribbles, and completely messing up that final pass, delivery, or even shoot when it came to the point. A night to forget, but not one to not learn from.

Lewandowski: 5.5

Lewandowski was barely involved tonight, as he was completely shut off by the Inter defensive set-up. Unable to take many shots at goal, nor was he able to help too much in the buildup as he typically likes to do.

Raphinha: 5

Raphinha Was absolutely wasted on that Left-Wing, not being able to dribble nor create. Had moments of brilliance once he was switched to the right, however, though it didn’t last long as he was substituted shortly after.

Substitutes:

Pique (58th minute): 6.0

Pique was proactive in distribution, and managed to give Barca that edge in the air to win duels against long balls.

Ansu Fati (63rd minute): 5.5

Rather ineffective, Fati was kept at bay for 26 minutes while he was on the pitch, and wasn’t able to generate any spark of sorts as he typically does.

Balde (63rd minute): 6.5

Balde’s introduction was a clear improvement over Alonso’s display. Balde provided energy, pace, and dynamism that Barcelona had been lacking the whole night. Wasn’t able to get enough time to make a difference, however.

Franck Kessie (83rd minute): 5.5

Kessie did not do much wrong, and neither did he manage to do something memorable. Added more directness to the team, however, which paved the way for a flutter of attacks into the Inter box in the dying minutes of the game.
