It remains understood that FC Barcelona is not in a position to go after the biggest of names in football. The Catalan giants have a limited financial budget that they can use for new acquisitions, and they have an alternative to spending big on established stars. Instead, Barcelona continues to focus on betting on the new generation of rising stars.

While these players are financially more achievable for Barcelona, they also have undeniable future potential. Given the proper development, these youngsters can progress into becoming invaluable assets for the club. As such, Barcelona is reportedly already negotiating the transfer of a new promising starlet.

As per SPORT, Barcelona is currently negotiating with Swedish side Djurgarden for one of their most prominent youngsters. 17-year-old Lucas Bergvall is one of the rising stars of tomorrow, and the Swedish midfielder has already managed to catch Barça’s eye.

Primarily a central midfielder or interior, Bergvall is a naturally right-footed player. Standing at 1.87 meters tall, he also has a physical edge to his game. Born in February of 2006, he will turn 18 two months from now in 2024.

Moreover, he has an active contract with Djurgarden until June of 2025. At the moment, Transfermarkt values the young Swede at €5 million. For Barcelona, he is seen as a young prodigious midfielder who could be a great bet for the future given his progression.

However, the Catalans are not the only suitor of the Swedish midfielder from Europe. Inter Milan, from Italy, are also reportedly interested in the 17-year-old Swede. While this interest is justified, it only adds more complications to the task for Barcelona themselves.

At the moment, however, the update is that Barcelona and Djurgarden are indeed negotiating a transfer. While an agreement has not been reached, it is understood that talks have been positive thus far. Moreover, even the player is quite attracted to the idea of one day featuring for FC Barcelona.

With his current club, he has made 29 appearances since joining in February of this year. Bergvall has managed to score thrice and also assist once during this period. He was formerly at Brommapojkarna, where he played 12 games, scoring once and assisting once in that period. Afterwards, he moved to Djurgarden for €900,000.
