Xavi Hernandez has successfully incorporated several young talents into his FC Barcelona team and assembled a group perfectly blended in experience and youth. Some of the youngsters in his team are been promoted from the reserve teams, including the midfielder Fermin Lopez, who has had his breakout season this year.

Since the start of the current season, Lopez has impressed everyone with his skills in the center of the field. Along with Lamine Yamal, he is one of the players to have made the jump from the youth teams to the first team.

Lopez has also become one of the fan favorites at Barcelona, and this has a lot to do with his performances against one opponent in particular, Real Madrid. Fermin has played in two El Clasicos under Xavi, one in the preseason tour of the USA and another in La Liga at the Montjuic.

He scored a great goal and provided an assist in the match in the USA, which helped his team win. He was again impressive in the league encounter against Real Madrid but was unable to save his side from defeat as Bellingham’s two goals undid Gundogan’s early strike.

However, despite his good performances against the Whites, there is nothing to suggest Fermin has it easy against them. In fact, as SPORT has reported, the midfielder has named a player from Real Madrid as the one who has made him suffer the most, i.e., Aurelien Tchouameni.

Fermin was signing autographs for the fans at an event when he was asked this question. The midfielder went on to explain his choice for this most difficult opponent: “He is very strong, I struggled a lot when playing against him.”

The young midfielder will have to wait for some time till he faces Real Madrid and Tchouameni once again in La Liga, but the two sides can face off earlier in the Spanish Super Cup or Copa del Rey, as the former of these competitions is set to take place in January.
