Barcelona has some well-documented financial problems that are public known by this point. However, often times the exact details of the ongoing procedures with which the Catalan club is involved are shrouded in mystery. Privacy in these matters is advised, but given the stature of Barcelona, that is often not possible.

Many reports over the course of recent summer window and ongoing dates have highlighted the ‘sacrifices’ made by Barcelona and their players. However, the exact depth and understanding of these sacrifices in missing for the public to judge.

For better or for worse, however, that is no longer the case. According to AS, La Liga president Javier Tebas has recently revealed several details regarding Barça’s current doings. The highlights of these details are undoubtedly the case of Joao Felix’s remuneration and Inigo Martinez’s registration.

As per the president, there are certain differences between Barça’s account of Joao Felix’s agreed salary and the one registered by La Liga. To be precise, while reports have claimed that Felix is charging €400,000 as his complete remuneration, La Liga has multiplied the original value by 10.

According to Tebas, this was done due to the requirements of Financial Fair play. In essence, the sum that Barcelona is actually paying Felix is not the one reflected in the books. Rather, it is a value that is exactly ten times greater than the actual payment.

Another thing that the president pointed out was Inigo Martinez’s contract registration. While Barcelona wonderkid Gavi has been confirmed to be registered, the case of Martinez has a temporary solution.

Through his tweets on X, Tebas has confirmed that Inigo Martinez is only registered for this season. This would mean that beyond the 2023/24 season, Barcelona would have to register him again it seems. Martinez has an active contract with Barcelona until 2025, but as per the words of the president, his current registration would be null and void in the summer of 2024.

Lastly, Tebas has also confirmed that Barça has reduced their overall salary expenditure by €100 million. Moreover, the president also confirmed that La Blaugrana have generated between €70-80 million from sales as well this season.
