While the January transfer window is still far from over, Barcelona are already planning ahead. Thus far, the Catalan giants have not actively made any new signings in the winter just yet. However, moving forward, Barcelona intends to ensure that the team can be reinforced.

Following injuries to the likes of various important players, Barça have made several key realizations. In particular, the absence of both Pedri and Gavi have taught La Blaugrana a tough lesson of needing more depth. Moreover, the lack of a reliable natural pivot is also costing them.

The first priority, however, remained the arrival of Vitor Roque in the team. Hours before the game against Las Palmas, the Catalan giants registered the Brazilian striker they signed in the summer. Now, they hope to turn their attention elsewhere.

As per SPORT, the goal remains to incorporate another midfielder into the team. Irrespective of Pedri’s arrival, Barcelona are looking for a versatile creative player. To be precise, they wish to sign a player who can play both as an interior and as a pivot without hindrance.

However, there is understandable difficulty in pursuing a transfer such as this. Pushing aside the obvious problem of finding the right problem, Barcelona also have to worry about their financial allowance. As of right now, their main hurdle remains generating enough space within Financial Fair play.

While Roque was eligible to be registered due to the opening created from Gavi’s injury, additional signings may be more difficult. Aleix Garcia, however, is a name that continues to appeal to Barcelona. He could be a potential purchase if Barça manage to create the required salary space.

One of the main reasons why things may be slow for now is the inability of Libero to pay what they owed Barcelona. Fortunately, SPORT claims that Barça is currently negotiating with two interested parties who could provide alternative injections to the club.
