Although everyone associated with FC Barcelona must have been happy with the team’s performance in the last night’s match against Real Betis, this night will be particularly special for one person in particular.

This is the winger Ferran Torres, who completed his century of appearances in a Barcelona shirt, and marked this occasion with a hat-trick.

While he lost the MVP award to Isco Alarcon, Torres was still the most influential player last night, and helped his team get a victory in Benito Villamarin, where no other team has been able to win previously in this ongoing season.

As Mundo Deportivo has reported, the winger was very happy with his performance, and showed this with his comments after the match:

“I’m going to enjoy the hat-trick; besides, today I play my 100th match with Barça, so you can’t ask for anything more.”

Torres also disclosed how he has been able to maintain his performances despite not being a starter for Xavi at the start of the season:

“It’s the result of hard work, discipline, perseverance, believing in oneself, and seizing opportunities.”

However, despite the hard work and perseverance, the last few months have not been easy for Torres:

“It’s clear, this is Barça, one of the biggest clubs in the world, and the demand is maximum; you have to be prepared. Not everything is beautiful; there are many criticisms; you are in the media spotlight a lot, and you have to be prepared.”

The former Manchester City winger also analysed the match, and recounted how things got difficult when Betis made a push in the second half:

“It’s Betis at the Benito Villamarín; we knew they would press and have their chances. They came back from two goals down, but we showed character to take the three points.”

Having completed his first 100 games for Barcelona, Torres can now confidently look forward to even more starts after his stellar performance against Real Betis. Hopefully, him and other players will continue contributing in the same fashion, and help Barcelona end the season with some silverware.
