FC Barcelona won their last league match, and Robert Lewandowski deserves a lot of credit for this win. This victory was essential for the Catalan club, as dropping points in this match would have firmly taken them out of the title race.

The Pole sent Barcelona ahead in the final minutes of the first half, as he scored a great goal from the edge of the box. Celta were quick to equalize just after the restart, but Lewandowski was once again on hand in injury time to score a penalty and give Barcelona the full three points.

As Mundo Deportivo has reported, the striker spoke to the media after the match, where he showed his satisfaction with the win, and explained how he missed the first penalty, which was then retaken:

“I’m very, very happy to have been able to win this important match. In the first penalty, I didn’t know what was happening, it was weird, but then the goalkeeper was off his line, and I think I took the second penalty as usual, and it was very important for us to get the three points.”

Like Pedri, Lewandowski also criticized the team’s performance in the second half:

“In the second half, we didn’t play well, but I also think their goal was a bit lucky. We created very little offensively. If we want to win the game more comfortably, we can’t just play well for 45 minutes; we have to be consistent for the full 90 minutes. It’s a goal for the future.”

Lewandowski shared that he and the team had worked very hard preparing for this game, but would need to maintain their concentration for the full 90 minutes against Napoli:

“I feel good, I’m physically strong. This week we’ve worked very hard, for the Champions League, I think we can play better. I believe in the first match in Naples, we have to give everything from the first minute to the last.”

The match against Napoli will definitely be a test for Barcelona. However, if Lewandowski can maintain the good form that he showed against Celta, the Catalans will have a good chance of getting over their Italian opponents in the midweek match.
