As the 2023-24 season enters its final phases, FC Barcelona has already begun preparations for the next season’s project. In this regard, one of the major developments that has taken place at the Catalan club is the renewal offer presented to Frenkie de Jong.

The club expects the midfielder to either accept the renewal offer with lower wages or to accept a move away from Barcelona if a good transfer offer comes in for him.

As things stand, there will be no shortage of suitors for the Dutch midfielder in the European market, as he is one of the best players in his position. In fact, as Mundo Deportivo has reported, the Premier League side Manchester United, which had already been linked with the midfielder in the past, has reignited their interest in him.

There has been a significant change at the Manchester Club since the billionaire Jim Ratcliffe has obtained 25% of the shares in the entity, and the club is going to invest a significant sum this summer to attract top-level players.

The Red Devils are thus considering making De Jong one of the leaders of their team, and he is the priority target for them this summer.

Manchester United were interested in signing the Dutchman two years ago as well and came close to getting their target at that time, but the operation ultimately fell through. Since that time, De Jong has stayed and strengthened his position at Barcelona, as is currently the fourth captain of the team.

The Premier League side is looking to overhaul their squad for the next season, and in addition to De Jong, they also have other high-profile names like Harry Kane on their list to bring to Old Trafford in the summer. Thus, in addition to monetary benefits, Manchester United can also offer a highly compelling project to attract the Dutchman to England.
