FC Barcelona continues to dream of a future where the club regains its throne. Once the undisputed kings of the sport, the times of today are much more troubling and frustrating. However, from within the club, there is belief that Barcelona will regain their place.

However, it is much easier said than done that is for sure. Their embarrassing defeats in the biggest competitions on the biggest of occasions have haunted them for quite some time. It does not help matters that Barcelona continues to play without their home stadium right now as well.

Yet, as highlighted by SPORT, Barcelona president Joan Laporta sees a very different version of the club five years from now:

“How do I see Barça in five years? The Camp Nou will be finished and will be an architectural gem. We will enjoy the best stadium in the world. We will also have the Palau built, where we can hold Euroleague finals. I see success, a lot of sporting success, because we always strive to win titles. I see a splendid, brilliant Barça, making many people happy.”

He further highlighted the club’s continued emphasis on youth and how that part of the Barcelona legacy will continue to live on and deliver:

“At Barça, we have always bet on talent. The training we have at Barça is unique in the world and has produced generations that have led us to success.”

Using examples of great Barcelona managers from the past, the president highlighted how many of the club’s greatest generations have come from the esteemed academy of their own:

“There was a glorious generation that led us to the highest successes. It is one of our strong points. The method we have bears fruit, and for the club to be sustainable, it is essential to bet on homegrown talent. We have always been successful when the team has been composed of homegrown players with top-level reinforcements.”
