Some immensely important weeks are coming up ahead that could dictate the future of FC Barcelona. A club currently muddled with confusion, La Blaugrana need stability and they need it fast. The longer the drama concerning the Barcelona head coach continues to spin, the more unstable the situation continues to become.

Whatever the decision ends up being, they must make sure it is made sooner rather than later. That, in turn, would allow more time for integration in the event of a new coach coming in to replace Xavi Hernandez.

Previously, this issue seemed all done and dusted, but recent speculation has once again put the Barcelona coach on the hot seat with no guarantees about his future.

That is where SPORT believes that a division within the Barcelona board is causing major issues. The primary culprits who seem to have very different ideas about where Barça goes from here are reportedly club president Joan Laporta and club director Deco.

Laporta’s path:

When it comes to the Barcelona president, it seems that he wishes to take a more foreign route after Xavi’s stint at the club. Despite previously being convinced with the current head coach, it is now being reported that he no longer feels that way and feels the need to incorporate someone else.

This new coach would need to guarantee wins and titles, while keeping in mind the fragile economic state of the club. Keeping those filters in check, Laporta wishes to pursue a more German route, to be precise.

The names of Hansi Flick, Thomas Tuchel, and Julian Nagelsmann are the ones that stand out most for the Barcelona president. Flick is reportedly a favorite, especially since he has started learning Spanish to facilitate a potential transition to Spanish football.

Deco’s path:

Barcelona director Deco, however, prefers to take on a more homegrown route. For him, the ideal candidate is reportedly Barcelona Atletic coach Rafa Marquez. The former Mexican and Barça player is someone who is seen as doing a good job with the B team, and it may be time to give him a chance with the first team.

Deco considers Marquez to be someone who knows the insides and outs of Barcelona. He understands what the club represents and how important it is to succeed there. Moreover, having been in personal contact with the youngsters of the team through his experience and expertise in the subsidiary, Marquez could potentially connect better with them as well.

Only time will ultimately tell which path Barcelona ends up choosing. Other members of the board will also be integral in helping make the final decision here. For now, Xavi remains at the helm of the first team and he will look to end the season with one last victory from their remaining La Liga outing.
