The summer transfer window will likely present a lot of opportunities to FC Barcelona. At the moment, their immediate targets are clear and the club is aware of who they are. However, that does not mean that Barcelona will let other chances slip by.

Nico Williams and Dani Olmo, for instance, are seen as the priority targets right now. Following the European Championship, the quality that both Spaniards showed was enough to convince Barça of their talents and it has now accelerated the club’s interest greatly.

However, on the flip side of things, one man whose Euros were hardly memorable is Joao Felix. Beyond just his penalty miss that seemed to bring him a lot of online hate and pressure, his overall influence and impact in the tournament was nothing special.

Yet, for better or for worse, Barcelona continue to have an eye on him. At the moment, the chances of him returning to the Catalan club are barely there, but it is not fully impossible.

As per SPORT, the only way Barcelona can even hope to have a chance with the 24-year-old Atletico Madrid forward now is for his negotiations with SL Benfica to break down.

That is because, except for Benfica, there are essentially no clubs interested in pursuing Felix at the moment. Moreover, the Portuguese club is determined to get Atletico Madrid to lower their asking price as well given that no other club seems to be interested in the player either way.

For the Madrid-based outfit, the ideal scenario would be to sell Felix for €60 million this summer. Diego Simeone does not seem to want the player to stay at the club, and Atletico Madrid want him permanently gone. However, while Benfica previously seemed ready to pay €30 million for 50% of his rights, they may now try to lower it further.

If that deal ends up breaking down, however, Barcelona may be the only club left to offer Atletico Madrid a deal where they do not permanently lose the player for a less-than-ideal price.

Benfica, on the other hand, argue that perhaps the player could improve his valuation by returning to Portugal and giving Atletico a higher-valued player to potentially sell later on.
