It now appears that FC Barcelona may finally be close to making their first big move of the summer. The Catalan club have waited a long time to be able to guarantee any arrivals, but they have come to understand that time is now running out. Thus, with some targets slipping away, Barcelona have finally pounced on one.

For several weeks now, the main priority of the Catalan giants has been to sign both Nico Williams and Dani Olmo. Whereas the Athletic Club forward has gradually managed to drift further and further away, the latter has now become Barça’s most realistic achievement.

Fortunately for Barcelona, it appears that the deal to bring Dani Olmo back to his home is now done and dusted. According to the ever-reliable Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, Barcelona have now managed to reach an agreement to sign 26-year-old Spanish star Dani Olmo from RB Leipzig until June 2030 and the now-iconic ‘Here we go’ has also been attached to this announcement by the journalist.

As reported previously, club director Deco had already met with the player’s entourage and also with the directors of RB Leipzig. According to Romano, the deal has now been confirmed and an agreement between all parties has been found.

Romano further disclosed the financial package involved as well, and the final payment is being reported as being €55 million as a fixed amount while €7 million will be given to Leipzig based on add-ons and as variables. This amount is much closer to Leipzig’s initial demands as well, ones that they were reportedly adamant about.

Previously, the journalist stated that these were key hours for all the involved parties. Now, it appears that Dani Olmo’s future will be at Barcelona after all. After leaving back in 2015, the Spaniard will return to his Catalan home almost a decade later as he will sign again from La Blaugrana.

Moreover, the player will thus become the only first team signing that has been made so far. Nico Williams and Mikel Merino may have slipped away, but Olmo is now the man that Barça have finally managed to sign. As for the benefits of signing him, La Blaugrana have their own reasonings behind it.
