FC Barcelona are gradually working towards getting prepared and ready for their first La Liga outing. La Blaugrana have to face Valencia as their first opponents in the league and it will be a crucial test for the Catalan giants. However, it is currently unclear which players Hansi Flick will call up for the Barcelona squad.

One thing is for sure, some players are far too early into their recovery process that their participation can be ruled out. Stars like Frenkie de Jong, Ronald Araujo, and Gavi are still in the process of gradually returning to normality. While Gavi’s progression is positive, he will still need time to fully recover.

However, Pedri’s recovery is something that Barcelona can feel very confident and positive about. The Spaniard recently completed a group training session with the rest of his Barcelona teammates and in the final session for preparation before the game itself, there is even further good news.

According to Mundo Deportivo, Pedri completed the final group training session from start to finish with his teammates as well. The player has recovered quite well from his grade 2 internal lateral sprain and it now looks possible that he could even be called up for the game against Valencia.

Previously, there were reports suggesting that the club would be cautious with the player’s involvement. Giving him the right amount of time and space to recover was considered vital, but it now seems that the sensations regarding the injury are positive enough for him to receive the green light.

However, while the player may receive the green light and could travel with Hansi Flick’s squad to the Mestella, Pedri would likely have to start the game from the bench. At some point during the game, if the manager believes he is needed, he could end up coming on.

Other players who will likely get the call-up for the game could include the likes of Marc Casado, Marc Bernal, Hector Fort, Gerard Martin, Sergi Dominguez, and possibly Ander Astralaga. However, only time will tell how Barça’s new German coach wishes to go about his first official game in charge.
