FC Barcelona were finally able to get Dani Olmo registered with La Liga ahead of their game against Ray Vallecano, and the Cules got a glimpse of what player they have in their team in Olmo’s very first match in the blue and garnet colors.

The Spaniard won the MVP award for this game after having gotten on the pitch after half-time and scoring the second goal to give Barcelona a lead that would ultimately go on to win the game.

As Mundo Deportivo has reported, the Spaniard spoke to the media after the game and looked quite happy with his Barcelona debut. Regarding the win, Olmo said:

“Many days I waited, since I arrived I longed for the first match, the debut, and what better way—it’s been many years since we won here, so it’s perfect.”

The Spanish forward also expressed his happiness on making his Barcelona debut: “I felt really good, I was eager, physically I felt great, ready to play, and I’m very happy to have made my debut and helped the team.”

Olmo also made it clear that he can play at multiple positions on the pitch, and will be happy to perform wherever Flick puts him:

“Wherever the coach puts me, I’ll try to give my best. Today he placed me as an attacking midfielder behind Robert, but I can play on both wings, and wherever I play, I’ll try to give my all. I’m always looking to create chances. Lamine found me very well, I finished well, so it was a good goal.”

The Spaniard also explained his great goal that came in the 83rd minute of the game: “I looked for space to shoot, and I knew the goalkeeper, Cárdenas, very well because he’s a friend of mine from Terrassa. It’s special that my first goal was against him.”

Olmo had a Barcelona debut to remember last night, and the fans will now only be expecting more from him in the coming matches. Hopefully, he will continue to shine for the Catalans as he has been doing for Spain and RB Leipzig for the last few years, and help Barcelona get another trophy into their cabinet this season.
