The younglings of FC Barcelona continue to make their mark whenever they are handed the opportunity. At a club so prestigious and full of talent, it is crucial for these players to grab any chance they get with both hands. Fortunately for Barcelona, it seems that all their youngsters are prepared to seize the ones they get.

From the likes of Pau Cubarsi to Lamine Yamal, many youngsters have showcased their talents in recent seasons and have consequently risen to stardom. While Xavi Hernandez will understandably get most of the credit for bringing about a new generation of La Masia prodigies forward, new coach Hansi Flick has been doing his homework as well.

The German tactician has already given many young players a chance such as Marc Bernal, Gerard Martin, and Barcelona Atletic forward Pau Victor as well. These players have gained the coach’s trust and it is clearly paying off. Now, in the recent win over Real Valladolid, Hansi Flick gave a chance to yet another promising youth academy player.

As pointed out by Mundo Deportivo, 19-year-old Sergi Dominguez becomes the latest player to join the ranks of Hansi Flick’s new debutants. Having been a substitute in the first three games of the season so far, the Barcelona coach finally decided to give the young defender his opportunity to show everyone what he has to offer.

Immediately after coming on, the defender did not hesitate to put on a show that got a gasp from the crowd. After receiving the ball, the player was instantly swarmed by Real Valladolid players hoping to take advantage of a youngster who probably would have succumbed to the immediate pressures of first-team football.

Instead, all of those pressing players from the opposition team were left dumbfounded by the defender’s clean footwork. Easily evading each and every one of them, he casually passed the ball to his teammate. The crowd really seemed to enjoy that display of skill, and it only gives a taste of what is to come with Dominguez.

Playing close to 30 minutes after replacing fellow Barcelona talent Pau Cubarsi, Dominguez settled in quite well. Already a captain for Barcelona Atletic, the player’s maturity and composure was clear as day to watch in action. Even in terms of his output, his statistics were close to being perfect.

Out of the 34 passes he attempted, he successfully completed 32 of them. Moreover, he had 36 touches during his time on the field and completed the one long ball that he attempted. He also made one clearance, two recoveries, and also completed a pass into the final third. While his defensive skills were not exactly tested to their limits, he did what he had to without fail.
