FC Barcelona as an institution has not been run fairly successfully in recent years and it is clear to see that. La Blaugrana have gone from being one of Europe’s undisputed powerhouses to a club with crippling finances. Despite these internal issues, Barcelona as a team continues to fight against all odds.

Yet, these odds continue to increase in number rather than decrease as the months go by. Rather than returning to the 1:1 rule again as Joan Laporta would have ideally wanted, the club remains in despair as they continue to abide by the 1:4 rule that continues to limit their transfer spending.

However, the latest revelation provided by SPORT is one that takes things to another level. As per the report, Barcelona might be disappointed with the work done by the club’s sporting director, Deco, and the possibility of him leaving to save the prestige of both the club and himself could become a reality.

Yet, this has now been officially disputed by the club itself as they highlighted Diario SPORT for spreading misinformation instead. According to the official statement made by the club, this is how the issue was addressed:

“FC Barcelona categorically denies the news that appeared this September 1 in the digital version of ‘Diario Sport’ putting in doubt the continuity of our director of football. In response to the piece titled ‘Deco, disappointed, meditating his future’, FC Barcelona states that it could not be happier with the job being done by Deco and refutes this attack by ‘Diario Sport’ on the director of football precisely at the end of the transfer window.”

The report in question highlighted that Deco’s position at the club had ended up impacting his own prestige negatively as well as the club’s. With players unwilling to consider the option of the Catalan club seriously anymore due to their never-ending internal problems, it has become a headache for both Barcelona and their sporting director.

For now, however, the club continues to stand by him and their stance on the matter remains clear. It remains to be seen if any new developments take place after this, but Barcelona have seemingly made things quite clear by addressing this report publicly and even highlighting the name of the publisher involved.
