FC Barcelona have loaned out Vitor Roque to Real Betis for the season and he has already played his first minutes for his new club against Real Madrid. The 19-year-old’s time with the Catalan club hasn’t panned out as expected.

Roque was signed amid great anticipation as the next big Brazilian forward, alongside Real Madrid’s Endrick. He was expected to be Barcelona’s response to Los Blancos for signing their own Brazilian gem.

However, six months after his arrival at Barcelona, Roque finds himself shipped out to Real Betis on loan. Furthermore, the Spanish club has an option to purchase him for €25m at the end of the 2024/25 season and €27.5m at the end of the 2025/2026 season.

Now, as per Mundo Deportivo, Premier League club Tottenham Hotspur could help Real Betis sign the 19-year-old Barcelona forward. The English club has a buy option for Johnny Cardoso for €25m that will be active next summer.

Should the Lilywhites pull the trigger on his signing, it would give Betis the financial liquidity to move for Vitor Roque immediately. This could in turn see Barcelona get cash from his sale, provided they don’t see a future for him in the future.

Ultimately, it all comes down to how Vitor Roque settles in at Betis and how he performs in the next 12 months. That could prompt the club to either sign him permanently or extend his loan by another season.

Roque is undoubtedly talented but he is learning the hard way that the Spanish league completely differs from what he experienced in Brazil. It remains to be seen if the 19-year-old can find a way to reach the heights envisioned for him at Betis and make a case for the club to sign him permanently next summer.
