FC Barcelona has no shortage of legendary players who have represented the club at one point or another. The Catalan giants have always been home to some of the most iconic players in the history of football. Both in the past and even in their troubled present, Barcelona still prevails in that regard.

When it comes to iconic forwards or centre-forwards, however, perhaps Barcelona has no equal. The likes of Ronaldo Nazario, Samuel Eto’o, Thierry Henry, Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, and many others have donned the famous Blaugrana colors at one point or another.

The latest in that long list of icons to join the club is none other than Polish ace Robert Lewandowski. Now a seasoned veteran at Barcelona with a few seasons under his belt, the former Bayern Munich ace continues to lead the line as Barça’s main goalscoring threat as well.

However, beyond just scoring goals for his club, the Barcelona forward also continues to make history for his country and at an individual level as well. As pointed out by Mundo Deportivo, the Blaugrana striker has now equaled the international goals tally of a former Hungary and Real Madrid icon.

Ferenc Puskas, the man after whom the famous Puskas award is named after, currently holds the 8th position in terms of the all-time international top scorers in football with his 84 goals. That tally has now been equaled, however, by Barcelona striker Robert Lewandowski in his most recent appearance for Poland.

Already a contender for the European Golden Boot so far this season at club level for Barcelona, it appears that his fine form has also translated onto the international stage. In his recent game against Scotland, one that Poland won 3-2, Lewandowski was the man who provided the assist for the first goal and scored the second for his nation by converting his penalty before the halftime break.

With 84 goals in 153 games already and showing no signs of slowing down, Lewandowski is well within his rights to chase down the next few positions on the coveted top ten leaderboard of football history’s finest goalscoring marksmen.

The 85-goal tally held by Romelu Lukaku (Belgium) and Ali Mabkhout (UAE) is only one goal away for the Barcelona striker and the 5th-placed Mokhtar Dahari with his 89 goals is not far away either.
