Barcelona expecting an increased salary space for this season – report

For the last few years, one of the factors that has kept FC Barcelona from assembling a team of their choice has been the salary limit that La Liga imposes on its associated clubs. This limit is the maximum amount that a club can spend on players, coaches, assistant coaches, and fitness trainers of the first team in a single season.

The last salary limit for FC Barcelona declared by La Liga was €204 million, back in February 2024. This sum represented a €66 million reduction to the €270 million salary limit they had in September 2023, and a €400 million reduction to the limit they were allowed in February 2023.

Thus, the Catalans have been seeing their salary limit significantly deteriorating for the last few years.

Now, Mundo Deportivo reports that La Liga is going to announce the new salary limits for its clubs today, on Thursday, and Barcelona are expected to get a significant increase in this limit.

This is going to be the case because of the various exits that took place from the Blaugrana squad over the last summer transfer window. Ilkay Gundogan, who commanded a quite high salary, left Barcelona for Manchester City, while players like Clement Lenglet and Vitor Roque also left on loans. Furthermore, Oriol Romeu also left for Girona on another loan.

There were also some sales, including those of Mikayil Faye, Julian Araujo, Chadi Riad, and Marc Guiu. Similarly, Sergi Roberto and Marcos Alonso also left the club after their contracts expired. Joao Felix and Joao Cancelo left after the end of their loan periods.

On the other hand, Barcelona made only two additions to their squad, i.e., Dani Olmo and Pau Victor. Thus, the Catalans have significant progress in enhancing their salary limit for this season. However, they were unable to return to the 1:1 status mainly because of the outstanding debt of Barca Vision.
