Scoring another goal in the UEFA Champions League defeat to Monaco, Lamine Yamal took his goals tally for this season to four. Thus, this season, the Barcelona wonderkid is already showing his teeth in front of goal, after having impressed with other aspects of his game in the last season.

Yamal proved his ability to the world of football last season by playing at a very high level in the biggest of competitions. He became a star player for Barcelona only at the age of 16 and also made his name with the Spanish national side as he helped them win the UEFA EURO 2024 last summer. The youngster broke almost all the youth-related records with his incredible performances.

Thus, he will be one of the Barcelona players attending the upcoming Ballon d’Or ceremony on 28th October in Paris. In fact, as Mundo Deportivo has noted, he is the favorite to win the Kopa Trophy, awarded to the best under-21 player in the world, at this event.

There are some other notable players competing with Yamal for this honor, including the Real Madrid youngster Arda Guler, his own teammate Pau Cubarsi, Warren Zaïre-Emery from PSG, Alejandro Garnacho from Manchester United, and Savinho from Manchester City.

However, Yamal has an advantage over all these players, and is expected to take this award to his cabinet next month, and thus replace the last year’s winner, Jude Bellingham.

Another name associated with Barcelona who is expected to win big on the night is Aitana Bonmati, who is among the favourites to win the Women’s Ballon d’Or on that night. She is also the current holder of this award.

Another face that Barcelona fans will be quick to recognize at this event will be that of Ronaldinho, who is one of the star guests for the ceremony.
