FC Barcelona have had an incredible start to La Liga under Hansi Flick. They have become a free-flowing team that scores a lot of goals and with six wins from as many games, 22 goals scored and just five conceded, things couldn’t have begun better.

One of the protagonists of Hansi Flick’s team has been 17-year-old Spanish sensation Lamine Yamal. He is leading the league in terms of goal contributions and has come up with a goal or assist in every single game he has played for the club this season.

The €120m-rated Spanish star has scored thrice and provided five assists in six La Liga games this season. These numbers are impressive for a 25-year-old and when you realize that Lamine is just 17, it is scary to think of his ceiling.

Speaking on The Gab & Juls Show, ESPN pundit Julien Laurens was full of praise for Lamine Yamal. Here is what he had to say:

“Lamine Yamal is the best player in the world right now. I know he is only 17 and I know this is just the beginning and I know there is Kylian Mbappe, Erling Haaland, and whoever you want to mention, Lamine Yamal is the best player in the world right now. There’s just no debate. He is just on another level.”

At this point, every single week, Lamine Yamal is impressive and his hype train only keeps going North. He has superseded some of the other young stars in the world to become arguably football’s greatest talent as of this moment.

An argument can be made that he is the best right-winger in the world at the moment. Only Mohamed Salah can maybe make a case for being better than the 17-year-old but it won’t be long before the Spaniard crosses the Egyptian superstar.

Against Villarreal, Marcelino’s team started resorting to dirty tricks to try and stop Lamine at the end of the game. The Yellow Submarine players were kicking the 17-year-old at every opportunity they got and this isn’t good for the youngster.

It remains to be seen how Barcelona go about protecting Lamine Yamal. He has played a lot this season and should ideally be rested against Getafe. Let’s wait and see how Hansi Flick deals with the situation.
