Superagent aims to ‘sneak in’ 22-year-old Ligue 1 defender into Barcelona squad

FC Barcelona brought in only two new players in the last summer transfer window, i.e., Dani Olmo and Pau Victor. Thus, the Catalans reinforced only the attack of the team, even though other areas of the squad also needed strengthening.

One such area was that of the defense. While the Blaugranes have a surplus of defenders for the center of the defense, they are still rather thin on options on the flanks. This is clear from the fact that Flick’s starting right-back since the start of this season has been Jules Kounde, a player who plays naturally as a center-back.

Although Kounde has not given any reasons to complain about his performances up to now, the lack of depth at this position is still clear for everyone to see. Barcelona wanted to sign Marc Pubill to solve this problem in the last summer transfer window, but could not complete this operation because of their thin salary margin.

But, as already reported, the Catalans are already looking at another defender for this position, i.e., the Lille fullback Tiago Santos.

Another report on this subject by Fichajes claims that the superagent, Jorge Mendes, is now offering his client to Barcelona, and the Blaugranes could be seriously considering this option to strengthen the right-back position in the next transfer window.

Santos has impressed with his performances since his arrival at Lille, and stands out both with his defensive positioning and attacking plays. With such characteristics, he has also been likened to the legendary Barcelona fullback, Dani Alves. Furthermore, at only 22 years of age, the fullback has a lot of room for further growth.

Thus, he is a highly attractive option for FC Barcelona, especially as the Blaugranes believe they can afford him despite the high competition for his services in the market.
