Hansi Flick does not want Barcelona to look for a new player for one key position

Although Nico Williams remained the club’s priority target for the most part of the last summer transfer window, FC Barcelona had another position identified for strengthening, the midfield pivot.

For this purpose, they were linked with several players, including Amadou Onana and Mikel Merino, but they ended up joining Aston Villa and Arsenal respectively, as the Blaugranes faced severe financial problems.

However, most of these financial problems are expected to be eliminated when January arrives, as the Catalans are expected to return to the 1:1 status by then.

However, according to SPORT, Flick still would not want to get another midfield pivot in this team as he believes this position is well covered, and the team also has its future set for this position in the form of Marc Bernal.

The La Masia-trained midfielder is currently recovering from a serious injury, but the club believes that Bernal has the ability to be the next Sergio Busquets in their midfield.

Meanwhile, as he continues to work on his recovery, Flick believes the likes of Marc Casado, Eric Garcia, and even Andreas Christensen, when he returns, would be enough to cover the pivot position. Furthermore, he will also have Gavi and Frenkie back to full fitness in a few weeks, and these resources are enough for Flick to work with.

Still, Barcelona have been keeping their eyes open in the market too, and have found some interesting options in Chelsea. The Blues have a lot of players in their ranks, and will be looking to send some of them on loan in the coming transfer windows.

Among these Chelsea players, one whom Deco likes a lot is Romeo Lavia, who did not get many minutes last season due to injuries, and who is once again not being important in Enzo Maresca’s side.

Deco had already tried to sign him two years ago, when Southampton were relegated, but Chelsea ended up getting him for €60 million at that time.

The young Nigerian Chukwueneka had also been offered to Barcelona in the summer, and more recently too, but Flick wants to bet on La Masia going forward.
