Robert Lewandowski once again faced his former side, Bayern Munich, last night. This was the second time that the Pole had faced the Bavarians since his move to FC Barcelona.
The first time he did so was back in the 2022-23 season when he had just left the German giants to join the Catalans. Barcelona faced a defeat at the hands of Bayern Munich at that time.
However, as Mundo Deportivo has noted, the last night was different not only because of the 4-1 win that the Blaugranes got but also for some other reasons that the striker himself mentioned as he talked to the media after the game.
The Polish veteran shared why he approached this game in a different manner than the last one: “It’s a special victory, no doubt, and I’m not going to hide it. I approached this game a bit differently than two years ago because now I’ve spent more time at Barcelona.”
Lewandowski went on to share that he was already convinced before the game that his team was going to win: “I was convinced that today we would play well and win. Before the match, I was expecting a 3-1 victory.”
Talking about his physical condition, the Pole believed he has not really declined despite his advanced age: “Physically, I don’t feel any difference, and that’s the most important thing. When I look at the younger players, they give me extra energy, I’m not going to hide that.”
Lewandowski also highlighted the importance of having experienced veterans in the team:
“Balance is essential, and we have a mix of experience and youth. Iñigo and I are here, and there are some experienced players in the midfield. We have a lot of youth, and we’re trying to make the most of it. I think we’re starting to understand each other better, learning how to use both the youth and the experience.”
The Barcelona superstar went on to highlight that he does not give a lot of importance to goals unless they mean something for his team:
“I feel good. It doesn’t matter much if I score 2 or 3 goals in a game. The most important thing is that my goals help bring victories to the team, and that’s what matters the most to me.”
Lewandowski was able to add another goal to his already impressive tally this season against Bayern Munich, and now already has 15 goals in 13 appearances. But this goal would have been more special for him, as it came against the club where had played for a significant part of his career.
