Since the start of this season, FC Barcelona have proven themselves to be one of the most entertaining sides in Europe. The Blaugranes are scoring at will this season, and even sides as big as Bayern Munich and Real Madrid have been unable to stop the Catalan blitzkrieg.

As Mundo Deportivo has reported, Barcelona have already scored 50 goals this season, needing only 15 games to reach this milestone. To provide more context to this achievement, even Luis Enrique’s team with Messi, Neymar, and Suarez as its forward line was unable to score at such a rate.

40 of these 50 goals from Barcelona have come in 12 La Liga games, creating the second-best record in the club’s history. It was only in the 1950-51 season that the Blaugranes scored more goals in the first 12 games. Barring the game against Getafe, which they won 1-0, Flick’s team has scored two or more goals in every game.

There have been several thrashings as well, including against Real Valladolid (7-0), Girona (1-4), Villarreal (1-5), Alaves (0-3), Sevilla (5-1), and Real Madrid (0-4). Barcelona also scored two goals in the games against Valencia, Athletic Club, and Rayo Vallecano, which they won with the barest of margins, while also scoring two goals in their only defeat to Osasuna this season.

The other 10 goals have come in the UEFA Champions League, as they scored 5 past Young Boys, and another 4 past Bayern Munich in their two wins in the competition this season. They scored another goal in their defeat to Monaco in the opening game of the competition.

hus, with these goals, Barcelona have improved upon their performance from the 2016-17 season, when the Catalans scored their first 50 goals in 17 matches. In contrast, the Blaugrana were the slowest to reach this number in the 2021-22 season, scoring 50 goals after 33 games, in which the team recorded a total of only 86 goals in all competitions by the end of the season.
