Sporting CP interested in signing Barcelona defender

Hector Bellerin arrived to Barcelona in the last summer transfer window and was mainly seen by the club as a stopgap arrangement till a younger and more reliable option became available for the right-back position.

However, the Spaniard, who had risen through Barcelona youth ranks before moving on to Greener pastures for more opportunities, did not match Barcelona’s plans for him and intended to stay on at the Catalan club for a greater length of time.

However, Bellerin has been convinced recently to think about moving on just after half a season with the club. According to a report from Relevo, Portuguese club Sporting de Portugal is interested in Hector Bellerin, as their star right-back, Pedro Porro is about to move to Tottenham.

They have made Bellerin the first option to replace Porro, and Bellerin is also open to an offer from Sporting, which is the only potential offer on the table for him that actually interests him. Furthermore, Matte Moretto also reports that Sporting is already preparing an offer for the Spaniard. Bellerin has already rejected other offers from the Premier League sides Everton and Fulham, and the Serie A clubs Monza and Sassuolo.

One of his main attractions in Sporting de Portugal is that they are still competing for the UEFA Champions League trophy, while the interested clubs are not participating in the competition this season.

Furthermore, Sporting will also have more opportunities for him to get to the field, unlike Barcelona where Xavi has used Bellerin only sporadically. Thus, a move to Portugal makes sense for all the parties involved, and we can see greater activity on this operation in the near future.
