Bayern Munich keeping tabs on Barcelona youngster

As has become the typical nature of Bayern Munich in recent times, they continue to scout through FC Barcelona’s youth to scout talent the Bavarians believe would do them good.

According to Mundo Deportivo, the club from Munich are now attentive to Ansu Fati. The youngster, who currently dons the fabled number 10 jersey at his Spanish club, has had mediocrity regarding his performances from time to time this season.

Following a plethora of injuries, the player has seemingly lost the spark he so prodigiously possessed prior to said injuries. Bayern reportedly carry hopes that they can persuade the now 20-year-old to join them by the time the upcoming summer transfer window unfolds and add him to their Bavarian outfit.

Historically, this is not the first time the German giants have tried to lure youngsters away from Barcelona. Bayern had already offered around a figure of 40 million euros for Pedri before the player had even had his debut in 2020, as well as an amount reported to be around 50 million for Gavi, which was the player’s release clause at the time.

Yet both players remained with the Spanish giants, as Gavi sat down for a contract renewal instead that saw his release clause be increased to €1 billion, a statement by Barcelona that the player is theirs to keep.

Another player that Bayern were heavily interested in was Frenkie De Jong, who at the time was up for sale regardless. Clubs such as Manchester United were already negotiating fees for the Dutchman during that period, with the estimated value of the offers received ranging from €70-90 million.

However, the Bavarians were looking for a varying type of transfer and wanted De Jong on an initial loan, similar to what they have pulled off for Philippe Coutinho in the 2019-20 season and Joao Cancelo in the recent winter transfer window.

They did however end up taking one player from Barcelona successfully. Under 16 Left-back Adam Aznou was a potential La Masia gem that the German club managed to lure away, and he now currently represents them at the Under 17 level, as well as recently just having had his first call-up to Bayern Munich’s first team.

However, Ansu Fati remains a prodigious footballing talent. As even Xavi himself has recently stated about wanting to give the player more time to find his footing rather than talk about him leaving. There is obviously a reason that Bayern Munich are interested in the player, and that is indefinitely something Barcelona would want to nurture rather than lend to a European rival.
