Among the players that FC Barcelona sent out on loan last season, Ez Abde was the most prominent and showed the greatest improvement. The player became an integral part of the Osasuna squad, but with his loan term ending, he is set to return to Barcelona, and the Catalan club will have to decide his future now.
FC Barcelona had around seven players on loan during the last season. Still, only Abde and Nico were reported to have played well enough of these seven players to warrant a place in Barcelona’s squad for the next season.
However, their continuity at Barcelona is also not guaranteed, and these players can be allowed to leave if a good offer comes in.
For now, SPORT reports that the Blaugranes, especially Xavi, intend to keep Abde as a part of their squad, at least for the pre-season. To ensure his presence at the pre-season camp, the club has asked Abde not to participate in the upcoming match of the African U-23 Cup, in which Morocco is facing Ghana.
However, Abde is yet to take a decision in this regard. The player has been put in a difficult situation because he is also the captain of the team and an integral part of this squad, as was clear from his two goals against Guinea in the first round of this tournament tie.
Still, Abde previously also resigned from his duties with his national U-23 team when they played in the African Cup the last year in January-February. He also represents his nation at the senior level and was an important squad member during the last FIFA World Cup, in which Morocco had a historic run-up to the semi-finals.
Thus, the player has a difficult decision to make in the days ahead as he is the U-23 Morocco team’s captain and has a lot of responsibility with the squad. Still, to become a part of Xavi’s plans, the player will have to be in the pre-season camp and impress the gaffer to get real opportunities in the season to come.
