FC Barcelona have formed an almost completely different team from the one that represented the club during the time of Josep Maria Bartomeu.
This previous administration of the club had signed several players with very high wages, who were also not performing up to the required standards, thus creating significant problems for the Catalan club.
Most of these players have now been cleared out from Barcelona, but one whom the Catalans have still not been able to offload permanently is the French defender Clement Lenglet.
The French defender is surplus to the requirements of Xavi and thus spent the last season on loan at Tottenham Hotspurs and is once again on loan in England, this time with Aston Villa.
The defender has five ninety-minute appearances in the UEFA Conference League with Aston Villa, but is yet to make an appearance in the Premier League.
However, while Unai Emery has not relied a lot on the defender, there are other European big names that want him in their squad. For instance, Bayern Munich are looking for a left-footed defender to replace the injured Matthijs de Light, and both Lenglet and Araujo interest the Bavarians in this regard.
According to Mundo Deportivo, another side has set its sights on the French defender, as AC Milan look to get him on a loan in the January window. Like Bayern Munich, AC Milan have also lost important defenders, Thiaw and Kalulu, to injury and are looking for their replacements.
Barcelona are aware of this interest in their center-back and are hopeful that a permanent sale can materialize as it would provide them with a significant financial boost. However, disassociating the player from Aston Villa will not be easy, as the English side signed the defender for a season-long loan.
