In addition to Vitor Roque, who has already arrived at the club and will be registered soon by FC Barcelona, the Catalans will ideally be looking to bring in a midfielder as well in this winter transfer window.

However, Barcelona do not have a lot of space in their financial fair play and will find it very difficult to bring in another player unless they receive some funding.

The Catalans have not yet received the pending payment from Libero Group, and also are not looking to sell any of their players in January as they already have a quite thin squad.

In such a scenario, there is still one source from where the club can receive some money, i.e., through the sales of former players on whom the club has a share of any future transfer fee.

There are players like Jean Claire Todibo and Juan Miranda, on whom Barcelona have such a clause, and who were reported to be likely to change clubs in this window.

However, according to SPORT, Barcelona may not be able to get any money for Juan Miranda. The Blaugranes possess a 40% sell-on clause on any profit made from the player.

Reports from Italy suggest that AC Milan is ready to propose a five-year contract to Miranda, with a salary offer surpassing what his current club, Real Betis, is providing. In fact, the defender and AC Milan have reportedly already reached an agreement.

The Rossoneri were planning to sign Miranda next summer, when his Betis contract would have run out, but injuries to their central defenders, Pierre Kalulu and Malick Thiaw can force Milan to get Miranda for some fee in January.

It would have been an ideal scenario for Barcelona, as the Catalans would not gain anything if the player runs out his current contract. However, Real Betis’ high demands can ruin this operation, and there are already reports emerging that AC Milan has ruled out his incorporation in January.

Real Betis were asking €4 million for the defender, but the Milan-based club considers this sum to be too high. Barcelona would have received €1.6 million if Milan had agreed on such a fee, but the Catalans would be content with a lower fee, if the alternative is not getting anything for the player at all.

The operation seems to be complicated for now, but this situation can change in the coming days. Real Betis also needs some income to get some financial fair play margin and undertake their planned operations in the market, so they might be willing to compromise a bit on Miranda’s asking price.
